BEFORE I ORDER

We require a $100 deposit for all orders, after which we will begin working on your files and creating your PDF proof. Additional payments can be made by visiting our payment center. All orders must be paid in full before we can begin to print your books. We do not accept checks or money orders. Please visit our “Methods of Payment” link for alternative payment options. As we commence work on your files upon receiving the order and down payment, the deposit is non-refundable; however, we will apply it towards your final payment to complete the order.

If you have a PayPal account, consider using their “Bill Me Later” feature.

To place your order, please visit our payment center, where you will receive step-by-step instructions through our ordering assistant. Kindly note that a $100 deposit is required at the time of ordering.

Yes, and we do recommend using our templates to format your GriotBook. Please choose the appropriate template for the specific GriotBook you are ordering. All templates are available for download in Word Document format. If you encounter any difficulties downloading the templates, please feel free to contact us, and we will promptly send one to you via email.

We will send you the final PDF of your GriotBook for your review. Kindly review it carefully before giving your approval. If you decide to make changes to your GriotBook’s PDF after you have provided approval, a fee will be charged for reformatting your files. We strongly encourage you to thoroughly examine your GriotBook’s PDF to avoid additional costs. This policy only applies to pre-printing changes. For concerns related to errors after the GriotBook is printed, please refer to the “There is an error in my book” link. We will collaborate closely with you to identify any errors that may have been overlooked. Extensive editing services are available at an additional cost if needed.

Listed below are some tips to assist you in editing your GriotBook:

  1. Step away from your files for at least 2 days, then return and re-edit. Your brain may mentally correct your file as you read it without your awareness.

  2. Ask a family member or friend to review your PDF. Fresh eyes can often catch errors.

  3. Consider ordering an Author’s pre-copy/printed proof. Errors may become more apparent when your manuscript is in the form of an actual book. It is easier to correct one copy than to correct hundreds.

Please note: GriotBook is not responsible for user-generated errors such as misspelled words, low-resolution images, placement or cropping errors, missing images, incorrect or missing background selections.

Due to the customized nature of our product, each book is printed and perfect bound to ensure the highest quality. Consequently, our “rush order” option incurs an additional fee based on the requested time.

Estimated delivery dates provided are conservative and represent the latest possible delivery time for your order. While your order may arrive earlier than the delivery date, we cannot guarantee it.

To find your estimated delivery date assigned at purchase, please refer to your “advance shipment” email sent to you after we received your order. For your information, we estimate the printing and delivery time to be 7 business days after you have approved your PDF.

The estimated delivery date (EDD) serves as a conservative estimate for when you can expect to receive your order. If your order has not arrived by the estimated delivery date, please do not hesitate to CONTACT US, and we will investigate the status of your order further.

Please be aware that at present, we do not offer international shipping. This decision is influenced by the delays caused by customs security checks. We appreciate your understanding.

We provide a FREE PDF proof for your approval. However, if you also desire a PRINTED PROOF sent via UPS Next Day Air, you can visit our payment center and order a pre-copy. While you will still receive the PDF proof first, after your approval, we will print, bind, and ship a printed proof to you at our expense. The cost for the proof itself is $45, and please note that this amount is an additional cost and cannot be deducted from the deposit. The $45 price is a special offer for the first printed proof, and subsequent proofs may be priced differently based on your book specifications.

Upon your review and approval of the Printed Proof, we will proceed to print the remaining GriotBooks unless corrections are needed. To submit corrected file(s), please visit our “final review” link. We provide proofreading tips that may assist you in identifying any errors that were previously overlooked. It is crucial to emphasize that this is the FINAL STEP BEFORE GOING TO PRINT, and we are NOT responsible for any errors missed prior to your approval. Therefore, we strongly advise you to CHECK, DOUBLE CHECK, AND TRIPLE CHECK!

We strive to ship all Printed Proofs on the same day that you confirm your PDF Proof. If it’s after 11 AM EST or if your book has special elements, it may take an additional day.

This registration does not imply ownership of your GriotBook; it means ownership of the ISBN number. If you decide to part ways with our company, the ISBN must be retired, as ISBNs cannot be reused.

  • No: If you’re printing a limited run of 50 copies for family and friends, you may not need an ISBN or barcode. While there’s no strict rule against it, the decision is entirely yours.

  • Yes: If your intention is to sell copies and potentially get your book into stores, obtaining an ISBN is advised. It enhances professionalism, facilitates bookstore communication, and increases visibility to booksellers and libraries.

  • Maybe: If you’re unsure about the sales volume justifying an ISBN initially, you can obtain one for a second print run if needed. Additionally, purchasing a barcode along with the ISBN is recommended, especially if you plan to retail your book through stores. Barcodes allow for electronic scanning, streamlining the sales process and providing accurate inventory records.

It is in your best interest to consider obtaining an ISBN, especially if you aim to sell books. Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States for original works of authorship, including literary, dramatic, musical, architectural, cartographic, choreographic, pantomimic, pictorial, graphic, sculptural, and audiovisual creations. “Copyright” literally means the right to copy. GriotBooks.com can submit your copyright information for you for a fee of $48.00. This fee is charged by GriotBooks.com as a service fee to complete the form for you. This fee is not including the copyright fee charged by the copyright office of $45.00 for electronic filing and $65.00 for paper filing. You may also submit your work directly to the copyright office using the address below. We are not an entity of the copyright office.

AFTER I ORDER

We will send you a final pdf of your GriotBook for your review. Please review it carefully before signing off on it. If you decide to make changes to your GriotBook’s pdf AFTER you have signed off on it, you will be charged a $50.00 reformat fee that must be paid before we will make the changes. For this reason, we urge you to PLEASE examine your GriotBook’s pdf very carefully to avoid the extra cost. To address issues with your pdf BEFORE printing, please visit our  “there is an error in my file.”

Please note: GriotBook is not responsible for any user generated errors such as: low resolution images, placement or cropping errors, missing images. incorrect or missing background selections.

Due to our automated processes and the customized nature of your GriotBook, once an order is placed, it cannot be cancelled. If you choose not to proceed with your GriotBook, please be aware that the deposit is non-refundable. For more details, you can refer to our “refund policy” link. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

If your tracking information indicates that the GriotBook(s) was/were delivered but you cannot locate it, we can initiate a lost/stolen claim for you. Before we proceed with the claim, please take the following steps to see if you can locate your book:

  1. Check if someone else accepted delivery. Inquire with household members, neighbors, building managers, the mailroom, front desk, or anyone else who may have accepted the delivery.

  2. Look around the delivery location. Carriers might leave packages in a safe, hidden place, such as on a side porch, in/around your garage, or behind bushes.

  3. Check your mailbox. Smaller items or items in soft packages are likely to be delivered there.

  4. Look for a parcel locker key. If your mailbox is in a cluster box unit or your package is addressed to a P.O. Box, check your box for a key to a parcel locker where the package may have been delivered.

  5. Check for a mail hold. If the U.S. Postal Service is holding your mail, your package won’t be delivered.

  6. Look for a notice of attempted delivery. An attempted delivery notice may be in your mailbox or P.O. Box or on your door. Follow the instructions on that notice to request redelivery or pick up the package.

  7. Contact the carrier. Reach out to the carrier to inquire if they have additional information about the package’s location. Have your tracking or delivery confirmation number handy. If your package was shipped via UPS, they may be able to hold it at their local hub for you to pick up; contact UPS to check if this is possible.

If none of these options help locate your package, we will flag it as a lost/stolen shipment. Please CONTACT US to initiate the process.

Due to the custom nature of our product, we are unable to accept returns. However, in the rare event that there is a printing error (misprinted pages, wrong book, damaged in shipping, missing pages) caused by a defect in the manufacturing process or shipping damage, please contact us immediately via phone or email. We will reprint and reship a new book to you at no extra cost once the defective GriotBook is returned to our office. Claims regarding defects in manufacturing or damages in shipping must be made within 10 days of receiving your order. Therefore, it is important to open your shipment and examine your books promptly upon arrival.

You have the option to change your shipping address up to 24 hours before the shipping date. If you decide to make changes after this period, we will make every effort to accommodate your request, but we cannot guarantee that we can intercept your shipment in time. Additionally, we offer a “split shipment” option if you are delivering your GriotBook to a different location.

For any address changes or split shipment requests, please contact us through our email form or call (888) 600-2011. Ensure you have your GCode ready for all correspondences. We are here to assist you.

Once your order is placed, you should receive a receipt from Griot International, LLC in your email. If you cannot locate your receipt, please check your spam/trash folder to see if it arrived there.

If you have not received your receipt, email us and request one, and we will email it to you.

Additionally, please remember that you will receive an “advanced shipping notice” email once your GriotBook is complete. Be sure to add GriotBooks.com to your contact/safe sender list to ensure you receive important notifications.

Your initial order comes with 10 GriotBooks, but there may come a time when you need more. Not a problem! Ordering more is as easy as 1 2 3. Simply contact us with your requested quantity, and we will print and send them out to you. Whether you need 1 or 50, it’s up to you. We can still print them within 7 days and have them delivered to you in 10. Additionally, we offer overnight shipping if you require them sooner.

Ordering is a straightforward process:

The most effective way to keep your costs low is to proofread carefully at every step. Your costs can escalate if we engage in multiple rounds of revisions for your files. To maintain low costs, strive to provide us with trouble-free, “ready-to-print” files from the beginning. Additionally, ensure that the PDF proof you approve is correct. We provide this proof to give you an opportunity to identify errors, both yours and ours, before the books go into print. If errors go unnoticed during proofreading, we cannot reprint your books for free. The best we can do is correct your files for the next printing. Once your GriotBook is created, we store the file on our secured database, facilitating easier reprinting of your files. We recognize that over time, additional family members may come forward with new information, and therefore, we retain files to allow you to work on them for as long as needed. After approximately 1 year of inactivity, we conduct a bit of “housekeeping.” At this point, we may contact you to confirm whether you still wish to keep your order in our system. If not, we will clear your data from our system to make room for others.

Prepaid and Gift Cards: Prepaid cards and gift cards (any cards that are temporary and lack personal information) may or may not be accepted. Some prepaid card and gift card issuers allow you to register your card, usually through their website. Registering your card and providing your name and mailing address may enable the card to work. SHIPPING QUESTIONS

Yes, we do ship to APO, FPO, and DPO addresses. To ensure the successful delivery of your APO/FPO shipment, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Shipping Method:

    • Use USPS as it is the only shipping method that delivers to military post offices. Do not use UPS.
  2. Recipient Information:

    • Use the FIRST and LAST name of the individual stationed at the military installation.
  3. Address Details:

    • For the address, include the Unit or Outfit number.
    • Select “United States” as the country.
    • For the state, choose AE (Middle East/Africa), AA (America), or AP (Pacific).
    • For the city, use FPO, APO, or DPO.

Please note:

  • Our shipping times only account for the time it takes to reach the FPO and do not include the time it takes for the FPO to deliver it to the military base. Additional delivery time may be required.
  • Once the package reaches the APO/FPO, it could take an additional 7-20 days for the APO/FPO to finalize the delivery, with 2 weeks being typical.

Blind shipping is available, and there is no additional charge for this service. With blind shipments, your order will be sent in plain brown boxes without our company name appearing anywhere on the packaging. Instead, your name will be listed as the shipper. This ensures a discreet and confidential shipping process for your convenience.

Once your book has been printed and is ready for shipping, you will receive an “ADVANCE SHIPMENT NOTICE.” This notification serves to inform you that your books have been shipped and provides you with important details. Within this notice, you will find your tracking number, a crucial identifier for tracking your package(s).

The tracking number allows you to monitor the shipping progress of your books. In many cases, if the carrier deems it safe, they may leave your shipment by your door. The advance shipment notice acts as an alert, giving you a heads-up so that you can be aware of the delivery timing. It’s important to note that GriotBook.com is not responsible for shipments left by the carrier and subsequently stolen.

In addition to Rush production times, we also offer the option to expedite your shipping. You can check the UPS shipping map to estimate the time UPS Ground will take to reach your location. If you need your GriotBooks to arrive faster than the standard shipping time, you may choose expedited options such as Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air, or 3 Day Select during the ordering process. Keep in mind that upgrading the production time (Rush or SuperRush) is often more cost-effective than upgrading the shipping method. Feel free to contact us for assistance in ensuring that your books are delivered on time, but be sure to do so before giving final approval of your artwork.

We do not ship outside of  North America.

 

When shipping to Canada, please keep in mind two important points:

  1. Our shipping charges cover the shipping cost, but not the duties and taxes. Duties and taxes for shipments to Canada must be paid by the receiver at the time of delivery. The exact amount due will be determined by Revenue Canada.

  2. If your package is held up in Customs, it could experience delays. Unfortunately, neither GriotBooks.com nor UPS can expedite the process if your package is being held in Customs. 📦🍁 Please be aware of these considerations when shipping to Canada.
