Our GriotBooks come in several different cover types. Our "specialty" covers require a setup fee because we have to order the die (ink) that is different then the ink we use to create our standard covers. Listed below are the different cover types. Click each link for a description and setup prices.
Please note: The setup price is set for each order. If you reorder additional copies of your GriotBook AFTER your initial order, you will have to pay a new setup price.

What is Foil Stamping?
Foil stamping is the application of metallic foil to paper using a heated custom-made die. It adds shimmer and richness to highlight specific text or images on your cover. We offer silver and gold foil options, and will be adding more colors soon.
Foil Stamping is frequently combined with Embossing to produce an attractive and eye-catching 3D image. This is called "Foil Embossing". You'll find that most best sellers today have Foil Embossed covers. We'll talk more about that in a minute. But first, check out this short (less than a minute) video below to see our foil stamping press in action.
Your family will appreciate the beauty of Foil Stamping, Embossing and Foil Embossing for their family heirloom.

What is Embossing?
Embossing is the process of using a custom die under high pressure and heat to raise letters or a design above the surface of the paper. This produces an attractive 3D effect that allows you to literally feel the design. Examples of embossing that many of us have seen (and felt) are notarized documents or the raised lettering on the cover of a recent bestseller. Embossing can be used on its own (known as “Blind” Embossing) or in combination with Foil Stamping. Whichever you choose, an Embossed cover is a perfect way to give your GriotBook that added touch of class and professionalism that will bring class to your family's heirloom. With the addition of gold or silver Foil Stamping as shown in the image above, the Emboss really stands out, both literally and figuratively.
Foil Stamping and Embossing look great individually, and they look even better together. In this combined process, a heated die fuses the foil onto the paper, bonding the design to the surface. The same area is then embossed with a die to create a raised three-dimensional image.
Please note these restrictions: While foil stamping can be applied to any book binding type, embossing can only be applied to perfect bound (paperback) and coil bound book covers. If you would like embossing on a hard cover (casebound) book, we recommend getting a Dust Jacket and Embossing that. Dust jackets can be Foil Stamped, Blind Embossed, or Foil Embossed.
